After ACTA (Trailer) After ACTA (Trailer)

Rated 1 / 5 stars February 10, 2012

Sorry, pal, but I don't rate based on whether I agree with an artist. This was barely an animation, and tons of text. The enormous block of text in the very beginning was not up long enough for me to read it. The kid on webcam was voiced too quietly. The rest of the entire film was just text. Finally, I for one am not a fan of what little art there was. By the way, that wasn't a preview, it was a political commercial.

GamekrazzyProduction responds:

It's considered a preview if I plan on continuing it. And I am sorry about the audio. Once I get better recording equipment maybe you'd be happy then. I am not too pleased with how this came out, but I was pressed on time and wanted it finished. Getting the message out was far more important then the quality. I am sorry I couldn't make a better animation for you.

Isn't that pie crust incorrect?

Yes, I love your cartoon. I just have a problem with your recipe. I've never heard of a pie crust with eggs in it. All the pie crust recipes I've ever heard of have been flour and lots of shortening or lard. Egg-based crust would be squishy and slimy, might not even cook in one piece, and wouldn't hold a slice of pie together. It would be gross. As for the Jack Daniel's, the alcohol would cook away before the pie was cooked, so you can't use it to get drunk, unless you actually want raw-egg pie.

Go Somewhere Smarter

Oh, for cripe's sake. Doesn't anyone realize that this is supposed to be offensive and make a statement? The guy did research, for cryin' out loud! For that, I'd say this is more of a highly interactive movie than a game, but I won't argue with the way you fit it into Newgrounds. A great way to spread awareness. Now if only you could attract a more critical audience.

Not a Game

I love your music choices. You do a great job of showcasing Newgrounds' best.

This gameplay is too simple. It doesn't feel like a game. I know it's not supposed to take 1337 skillz or anything, but it should at least feel like I'm trying to do something and get better at it. Mouse hovering is too simple for me. And yes, there should be some skill involved in casual gaming.

Perhaps I prefer to play along with the rhythm rather than trying to beat it. When I play this, I find myself looking so far ahead that I don't see the stars shining to the rhythm. So the gameplay steals my reward for good performance; furthermore, having to work with the rhythm would make me have to use more actual skill.

I think that some of the spheres are perfectionists. Some of them require me to touch their absolute centres, and when I think I am they'll tell me I'm not, because they are perfectionist about it. I know that I was just talking about wanting to use more skill, but being able to measure micrometers with my naked eye would be superhuman. I also found it hard to measure my distance from each sphere, but that might just be me.

That is one technical issue. I think that, technically, the rest of the composition is great. The animation is synchronized well with the rhythm.

I think the eye candy isn't sweet enough. I want a bigger reward for the stars I make. Perhaps gains in points could be made more obvious. That's foreground stuff. As for the backgrounds, well, they're actually pretty elegant. Great backgrounds.

Oh No, Not Saxophone!

The piano sounds great. You've also chosen great sounds to complement it.
The saxaphone sems to fall behind the rhythm a bit. It's a little overpowering, too. I just don't think it sounds nice next to the other instruments.
The fade-in starting at around 0:30 is nice and smooth.
In general, it's really pretty, especially the first half.

Tinny, Imbalanced, and Needs More

Shamisen? I don't know what that is in the beginning, but I'm not a fan of the sound. Its melody is pretty, though.

I think the biggest problem with this song is the bass. It doesn't compliment any of the other sounds in the entire mix. It's overpowering, even when they aren't turned down (and by the way, the spots where they get turned down are quite obvious). I think you should replace it with something higher. Maybe even use a couple of different drumlines.

The harmony that starts at around 2:10 is pretty.

About what HelthRMX said: I think the reason why this is hard to dance to is because it isn't syncopated. The beat has me kicking, though.

I like the dramatic part around 3:12-3:38. Also, the melody that comes in at around 3:26 is a nice change because the former pick-up note (at least that's how it sounded before) is a regular old starter for a bar.

Good grief, I haven't even mentioned that I think there could be more elements added in general. It's a little plain.

Nice melody. It'll probably be in my head for a while.

TUNEIT responds:

Thanks for the comment. And i think this song was a big mistake. But me and my friend CombatPlayer made a remake of this song. Wich is much better than this one. And you should check out his music. But sorry guys ):

Interesting

I like how you change every few bars, though still maintaining the song's unity. It doesn't feel like a loop (except for the fact that it loops smoothly), so it could make for some good grinding music.
